MINERALS WASTE AND RESTORATION

Pode Hole Quarry Restoration

Pode Hole is a large sand and gravel aggregate quarry near Peterborough and Green Tyger Design were appointed on behalf of PT-CE ltd to prepare the landscape restoration and continuing works phasing plans.

The concept was to reconstruct or replicate the original landscape before the quarry works had disturbed the ground, recreating the previous levels, drainage ditches, hedge and field patterns as before. A large new attenuation pond was included to avoid excessive surface runoff in the area and at the same time create a wetland wildlife sanctuary.

Planning consent was obtained in 2019 and updates shall be posted as the site progresses in phases towards its restoration, so watch this space.

Brinklow Quarry Restoration

Green Tyger Design has been commissioned to design the restoration scheme for this large sand and gravel quarry near Coventry.

The restoration scheme includes the creation of three new lakes surrounded by woodland with a new woodland area already established and these areas are linked with a wildlife corridor which also acts as a wind break for the rest of the area which is returned to productive agricultural land at the original levels before excavations began.

IBA Recycling Plant

The client Blue Phoenix Ltd appointed Green Tyger to design the landscaping for this scheme in Wolverhampton, located on land at Cross Street, near the sensitive Canal Locks Conservation Area.

The landscape design uses a combination of earth bunds, high green fencing and native planting to screen the site from the canal and nearby roads and within this design retained as many of the existing trees and shrubs which had naturally establised on the derelict site.

Planning consent was obtained in 2019 and updates shall be posted as the site progresses over the forthcoming years.
